Christopher J. Havelda, M.D., FACC - Cardiologist

Christopher HaveldaExpertise:
Dr. Havelda specializes in both invasive and non-invasive diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular disease and peripheral vascular disease.

Education and Experience:
He received his medical degree from St. Mary's Hospital Medical School in London, England.  Before Dr. Havelda moved to Owensboro to practice cardiology in 1982, he was the Academic Chief Resident at the University of Tennessee, Chattanooga.  He was also Chief Fellow, Research Fellow, and Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Louisville.  He is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC).

Certification:
He is a board certified in Internal Medicine; Cardiovascular Disease; and Interventional Cardiology.

 
Roshan K. Mathew, M.D., FACC, FACP - Cardiologist

Roshan Mathew Dr. Mathew graduated with high honors from the Kasturba Medical College in India. He then continued his medical education at the Catholic Medical Center of Brooklyn and Queens, Albert Einstein College of Medicine, serving as Intern, Resident, and Acting Chief Resident. Dr. Mathew completed his training in General and Interventional (Coronary and Peripheral) Cardiology from the Lahey Clinic, Boston, Massachusetts, where he served as Chief Fellow and on the Faculty. Dr. Mathew came to the Institute from New York where he was an interventional cardiologist in private practice.

Certification:
He is board certified in Cardiovascular Diseases by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC) and a Fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP).

 
Albert B. Mercer, M.D., FACC - Cardiologist

Albert MercerExpertise:
Dr. Mercer specializes in invasive and non-invasive cardiovascular disease, providing both diagnosis and treatment.

Education and Experience:
Dr. Mercer graduated within the top 5 percent of his class from the University of Louisville School of Medicine.  He completed an internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Duke University Medical Center.  Before Dr. Mercer moved to Owensboro to practice cardiology in 1984, he received his Cardiology Fellowship from the University of North Carolina.  He is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC), and a Governor for the American College of Cardiology Kentucky Chapter.

He is board certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Disease.

 
Richard S. Burgan, PA-C

Richard Burgan

Education and Experience:
Richard received his Bachelor of Science and Health from Butler University in Indianapolis, IN. He began practicing as a physician assistant in July 1999 and joined
Green River Heart Institute in April 2002.

He is certified as a Physicians Assistant - Certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).

Christina received her Bachelor of Arts in Biology from the University of Louisville. She then completed her Master’s Degree of Science in Physician Assistant Studies at the University of Kentucky. She joined the Institute in July 2006.

Education and Experience:
Danya received her Bachelor of Arts at Centre College and then completed a Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies at the University of Kentucky. She joined the Institute in March 2008.
